Every year, 30,000 people are diagnosed with blood cancer in
the UK. The Lions International Blood Research Appeal, LIBRA,
is the only charity in the world that solely raises funds for King's
College Hospital's Haematology Department in London.
With the support of LIBRA, King's has become a leading
national and international centre for the diagnosis and treatment
of blood cancers.
The latest LIBRA campaign, Giving 4 Growth, is raising over
£100,000 to cover the cost of urgently-required laboratory
developments. These are vital to ensure work can progress on a
vaccine - the first of its kind in the world - to treat Acute
Myeloid Leukaemia.
